FAITH project at the 32nd ICE/IEEE ITMC Conference in Porto

The FAITH project was proudly represented at the 32nd ICE/IEEE ITMC Conference in Porto, one of the flagship events of the IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS), with active participation in both a panel discussion and a dedicated parallel session on trustworthy AI.

Professor Gregoris Mentzas participated in the panel discussion “Generative AI for Technology Management in the Context of Industrial and Educational Intelligence,” where he shared insights from FAITH and other EU-funded projects on the future of human-centric and trustworthy AI. Key takeaways from the discussion included:

GenerativeAI is transforming knowledge work from static, periodic tools into continuous, conversational collaboration between humans and AI.

The greatest barrier to AI adoption is not the technology itself – it is trust. AI systems must be explainable, robust, transparent, and safe to gain users’ confidence.

The next research frontier is extending #TrustworthyAI frameworks to AgenticAI systems that can plan and act autonomously.

FAITH was also represented by Professor Dimitris I. Fotiadis, who participated in the parallel session “WS-PO-2A – Robust and Trustworthy AI is Not One-Size-Fits-All.” The session brought together experts from leading European initiatives, including AIXPERT, HumAIne, EXTRA-BRAIN, TRUMAN, TURING, and FAITH, to discuss how trustworthy AI must be adapted to different application domains and stakeholder needs. The conference provided an excellent opportunity for Professor Dimitris I. Fotiadis to engage with the international research community and exchange perspectives on the future of trustworthy AI, strengthening collaborations and reinforcing FAITH’s commitment to developing reliable, human-centric AI solutions.
